Island Planet Tropical Clothing

Batik on Cotton, fluffily quilted comforter, perfect year round! Here a carnival of colors, giant fantastical blooms, a paradise tree home to two pairs of mystical birds all framed with a wonderful border!

These comforters are lovely vintage pieces rolled up for 35 years, just washed and dried in the machine, cold water and turned out beautifully! An opportunity to have one and there is only one of these.

Beginning with white cotton material, the picture is drawn by hand with pencil, the drawn lines are traced with a thin stream of wax; when the wax is dried, the outlines are handpainted in--now what kind of mind can choose the right colors just on the spot--it is amazing. the paints are solar-reactive, and the finished painted products are dried in the sun after which they are boiled to removed the wax, dried and sewn to a backing with cotton/poly fill between, then quilted.

Well there you have it, a real work of art.

We have had six for the last 30 years, washed and dried by machine multiple times and they still look new and wonderful and we use them all year. The bedrooms look very happy! On a couple of the beds we put them down the center, with white cotton blankets showing a bit on each side, and on others the comforters come over the edge a couple of inches (a bit long at the foot as we don't cover the pillows). That's enough for us and easier than dealing with a bedcover that reaches all the way to the floor!
